Navette Test (Luc Léger 20m)

Assess Maximal Aerobic Speed (MAS / VMA) and estimate maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max)

Primary measureStage / Level completed
CategoryAerobic Capacity
FormatPROGRESSIVE
Pacing audio0.01s Calibrated

Standardized testing protocol

Progressive shuttle run between two lines 20 meters apart paced by audio beeps. Stage 1 begins at 8.5 km/h and increases by +0.5 km/h every minute. Athletes touch opposite line in sync with beep. Ends after 2 consecutive missed beeps.

Required field equipment

20-meter flat non-slip track marked with 2 lines, cones/markers, pacing audio beeps

Calculation formula & scoring

Time4Test automates this equation directly during the session:

VMA = Speed of last completed stage (km/h). Estimated VO2max = 5.857 × VMA - 19.458 (ml/kg/min).
